Restorative Yoga for Menstruation
This gentle restorative yoga practice is designed specifically for day 1 of your cycle or any time during menstruation. We will be focusing on honouring and supporting the womb, soothing cramps and fullness in the pelvis and womb space, releasing menstrual shame and cultivating deep inner connection. This practice emphasises rest, nurturing, softness and surrender during this time.
If you do not currently experience a menstrual cycle, this practice is still suitable to connect to the energetic womb space and send loving awareness to this part of your body. As an alternative, you may like to connect to the lunar cycle and the energies of the dark moon which align with menstruation.
This practice is an invitation to slow down, nurture your body, and connect deeply with the cyclical wisdom of your womb. Setting up your space with intention can help you drop into a state of ease, softness, and surrender.
🕯️ Create a Sacred Environment:
Dim the lights or light a candle to signal to your body that it’s time to rest
Gather supportive props: bolster, pillows, blanket, eye pillow, and an optional heat pack for extra comfort
Place your journal nearby for post-practice reflection
Set your phone to do not disturb or silent mode to support uninterrupted rest
Consider adding soft music, essential oils, or a grounding crystal if that feels good for you

Journaling Prompts:
When you feel ready, take a few moments to journal, allowing your inner voice and body wisdom to gently rise to the surface.
What emotions are present for me today?
What am I ready to release or shed from this past cycle?
If my womb had a voice, what would she want me to hear or know?
What is something beautiful or sacred about my menstrual cycle that I want to honour more fully?
